What makes Turkish towels so good?

There’s a reason Turkish towels have been around for centuries. They’re lightweight, absorbent, quick-drying and incredibly versatile – everything we think a good beach towel should be.

Unlike a traditional bulky terry towel, a Turkish towel is woven from fine cotton with a flatter weave. The result is a towel that does the job without taking up half your beach bag.

Soft & Absorbent

Our Turkish towels are made from 100% Turkish cotton, known for its long, smooth fibres. They’re soft and absorbent from the start and become softer with washing and use.

Quick-Drying

One of the things we love most about Turkish towels is how quickly they dry.

Their lightweight weave allows them to air-dry much faster than a thick terry towel – particularly handy at the beach when you're in and out of the water, or when you're travelling and need your towel dry before it goes back into your bag.

Faster drying also means less chance of that damp-towel smell we could all happily live without.

Lightweight

A full-sized towel doesn't need to be heavy.

Our Turkish towels weigh approximately 250–450 grams, depending on the design, making them easy to carry to the beach and particularly useful for travel, camping and days when you're carrying everything yourself.

Packs Down Small

Turkish towels fold or roll down surprisingly small.

They take up much less room than traditional terry towels, whether that's in your beach bag, backpack, suitcase, boat, caravan or bathroom cupboard.

More Than a Beach Towel

We obviously use ours as beach towels, but that's only the beginning.

A Turkish towel can double as a sarong, picnic rug, lightweight blanket, scarf or shawl. We've taken ours travelling as towels and ended up using them as plane blankets, pillows and wraps along the way.

They're one of those things that earn their place in your bag.

A Traditional Weave

Turkish towels – also known as peshtemals or hammam towels – have a long history in Turkey, where the flat-weaving tradition dates back centuries.

The fine yarn and flat weave allow for beautiful patterns without the bulk of conventional terry towelling, traditionally finished with the distinctive tasselled edges Turkish towels are known for.
