🧵 MATERIALS LIBRARY

Materials Library

Every fabric we use is selected with intention — based on how it performs in real life, not just how it looks on paper.

Some materials need to handle salt, sun, and constant movement. Others need to feel soft against the skin or breathe easily in heat.

Below is a breakdown of the key materials in our collections.

🌊 Recycled PET Polyester (Recycled Plastic Bottles)

Recycled PET polyester is made from recycled plastic bottles, giving post-consumer waste a second life as performance fabric.

We use this material in our boardshorts and swimwear where quick-dry performance, durability, and shape retention are essential.

Across our range, our recycled polyester fabrics contain a minimum of 85% recycled content, depending on the garment and performance requirements.

Why we use it

  • Strong and durable in saltwater and sun exposure
  • Quick-drying and lightweight
  • Helps reduce reliance on virgin polyester production
  • Converts plastic waste into long-life garments

Best suited for

Boardshorts, swimwear, and active beachwear

🌿 TENCEL™ Lyocell (Eucalyptus Fibre)

TENCEL™ Lyocell is a plant-based fibre made from sustainably sourced eucalyptus wood.

The trees grow quickly and don’t require irrigation or pesticides, and are harvested in a way that allows regrowth.

The fibre is produced in a closed-loop system where up to 99% of non-toxic solvents are recovered and reused.

Why we use it

  • Soft, breathable, and lightweight
  • Excellent drape for shirts and resort wear
  • Lower-impact production process
  • Comfortable in warm climates

Best suited for

Cubano shirts, lightweight resort wear

🌿 Organic Cotton

Organic cotton is grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers, supporting healthier soil systems and reducing chemical exposure in production.

We use it where natural breathability and softness matter most.

Why we use it

  • Naturally breathable and comfortable
  • Reduced chemical inputs in farming
  • Long-wearing natural fibre
  • Gentle on skin

Best suited for

T-shirts, everyday essentials

♻️ Recycled Cotton Blends

Some of our tees use recycled cotton blended with recycled polyester, helping reduce textile waste while maintaining durability and structure.

These fabrics are selected for everyday wear where longevity and comfort are both important.

Why we use it

  • Reduces textile waste
  • Strong and durable for regular wear
  • Maintains softness and structure over time

Best suited for

Graphic tees and core wardrobe pieces

🧵 Trims, Buttons & Labels

Where possible, we use recycled or responsibly sourced materials for trims, including buttons, labels, and finishing details.

These small components are part of the overall footprint of a garment, and we aim to make considered choices wherever we can.

🧭 How we choose materials

We don’t assign one fabric as “best” for everything.

Instead, we match materials to purpose:

  • Performance in water
  • Comfort in heat
  • Durability over time
  • Reduced environmental impact where possible

This approach allows us to design garments that actually work in real coastal life — not just in theory.

🌱 Ongoing improvement

Materials evolve over time as better options become available.

We continue to review new fibres, production methods, and innovations as part of how we grow the brand.
